Rafael Nadal wins first match back from injury in Madrid over Kecmanovic

Rafael Nadal looked really sharp in his match against Miomir Kecmanovic claiming a 6-1 7-6(4) win in the first match back from injury.

Nadal missed quite a bit of time with a cracked rib sustained in Indian Wells during a battle against Carlos Alcaraz. In his first match back since the injury, Nadal looked really sharp taking down MIomir Kecmanovic who has been a consistent beast all year long. The opening of the match was very nervous by Kecmanovic who never quite got into a rhythm.

Nadal did not even play that well but Kecmanovic was simply not good enough. The Spaniard finished it off with 6-1. The match was suspended in the early 2nd set due to rain and it resumed about 30 minutes later with the roof closed. Nadal jumped out to an early lead but Kecmanovic was able to take the break back as Nadal's play suffered a bit.

The Serbian almost attacked more boldly this time around with some decent success. Kecmanovic got into a really great rhythm for the majority of the set keeping himself alive however Nadal slowly warmed up towards the end of it. Once he finally did, he took over towards the end with some spectacular winners. He could have closed it out at 6-5 but he missed badly a few times and we went into the tiebreak.

Despite struggling with his backhand all tiebreak long the Spaniard was able to edge out the Serbian 7-4 in the tiebreak.
