Rafael Nadal is the undisputed king of clay and while he is the favourite in any clay event he plays let's take a look at his road to another Monte-Carlo trophy.

Rafael Nadal returns to the Monte-Masters where he has dominated for many years. The 11-time champion will embark on another possible title-run as the number one favourite due to his decade long domination on clay. The last time he played, in 2019, he got bested by Fognini and he will want to better that effort.

As a top seed, he will have a 1st round BYE with a possible 2nd round matchup against Mannarino. The draw gets tougher with the 3rd round as Nadal could face Dimitrov. The Bulgarian player does not play his best on clay but he can be a tricky opponent on his day. Possible quarterfinals against Rublev and Bautista Agut are a mouth-watering prospect for tennis fans as well.

If Nadal successfully overcomes those opponents he could play Medvedev or Schwartzman in the semifinals. Both of them have beaten Nadal before albeit only Schwartzman defeated him on clay. It was last year the Rome Masters and it was a pretty convincing win for the Argentinian.

A fairytale ending to another title run would be a final against Djokovic which, thanks to the draw can only happen in the final. We saw that happen twice at the event with Nadal winning both of those matches. Besides Djokovic on that side of the draw, we have Zverev and Berrettini but it's hard to picture either reaching the final.
