Former world number one Boris Becker has an interesting seven words response to people questioning the agreement between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Italy’s Jannik Sinner. The agreement, which led to the suspension of the current world number one in men’s tennis in the singles category, has received serious backlash, not only from the fans on the social media but also from the current players.

Notable players, both in men’s and women’s tennis have raised their concerns after WADA and Sinner reached an agreement which will see the three-time Grand Slam winner staying out of action for three months, meaning that he will be eligible to play all major titles this year.

Sinner tested positive for the banned substance clostebol in two doping tests in March last year but miraculously managed to escape any ban. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) declared him innocent following a detailed hearing where his counsel claimed that the substance was available in the player’s sample because one member of the coaching staff had received a cream for the treatment of an injury.

WADA then appealed against the verdict in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and demanded a two-year ban for the three-time Grand Slam winner but both parties reached an agreement on Saturday.

WADA’s general counsel, Ross Wenzel, has recently spoken to the BBC and clarified the reason behind such a deal. He stated that Sinner’s case was ‘million miles away’ from any sort of doping, including micro-dosing. "This was a case that was a million miles away from doping," he said. "The scientific feedback that we received was that this could not be a case of intentional doping, including micro-dosing.”

Former world number one Becker reposted a post on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — which was about the comment Wenzel about Sinner’s case with an interesting seven-word caption: “Whoever is able to read the facts!”
