Iga Swiatek
became a brand ambassador for Porsche, just like
Emma Raducanu, and fans
criticized the British player.
Since
Raducanu won the 2021 US Open, she has become one of the biggest stars in the
sport for major brands seeking ambassadors to promote themselves. The former
world No. 10 was named the Brand Ambassador before her debut at the Porsche
Tennis Grand Prix in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart.
At the
Porsche-sponsored WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, a
two-time champion, was finally announced as an ambassador for the car brand
after her title victory in 2023 two months ago. The Polish player wrote on her
social media:
"After
I got my 2nd trophy in Stuttgart many of you wrote that it is a good moment to
start a collab with Porsche and it seems very natural to me. So… guess what.
I’m joining #teamPorsche! And it doesn’t mean I won’t be fighting for another
Porsche car in Stuttgart next year," she tweeted.
The 4-time
Grand Slam champion received a series of positive comments from her fans, while
criticisms towards Raducanu also surfaced:
I'm so happy for Iga. Her hard work on and off the court is resulting in her getting both championships at the highest level and sponsorships as well!
"Oh
finally some deserving ambassador; Porsche got facts fixed and recognized who
the real queen is,"
“As someone who spent years in the advertising
business I can say Iga Swiatek and Porsche make a great pairing. Excellent
collaboration for both brands. Iga links with a cache up market brand, Porche
with a young woman who is still a tough cookie,”
