Former player Rennae Stubbs has expressed concern over Alcaraz's injury believing that so many in a short time period shouldn't be happening when he's so young.
When Alcaraz came to the scene many were in awe of the power in his game. The Spaniard played very physical tennis which caused some concern among longtime fans. They were unsure whether his body could handle such a way of playing tennis because so very few do. Stubbs shares some of those concerns after he picked up another injury recently:
“I got to say the injuries are worrying me and that age to consistently get these injuries is not a good sign. He [Carlos Alcaraz] should not be getting injuries at this age. You get them at 35 and 38 and 39, not at 19 and 20.
It's a valid concern as his recent tennis memories are mostly of rehab as he didn't play that much. An injury at the Paris Masters, one leading up to the Australian Open and now another one. Even so, Stubbs proclaimed him one of the best clay court players forecasting a lot of success in Paris in the future:
“[Alcaraz is] one of the great claycourt players that's probably going to win the French Open probably eight or nine times. He is so young and at some point Rafa and Roger and Nole they are all gone at some point, right? And who's going to pick up the baton? It'll be this guy."
