A unique exhibition tournament, the first edition of the "Road to Australia," is set to be held between December 16 to December 20 in Buenos Aires, argentina. The event brings together 16 tennis players at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in the Argentinian capital and will feature several interesting names as part of the preparation for the Australian Open.
The tournament will feature British former World No. 9 Cameron Norrie as the main star, joined by several other big names in South American tennis. Locals Sebastián Báez, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, and Mariano Navone, Chile's Christian Garín, and American Emilio Nava are part of the player lineup looking to secure wins on hardcourts ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year.
The men’s competition will feature a Round Robin format, with players divided into four groups. The leader of each group will advance to the next round. The four group leaders will play semifinals and a final during the last two days of competition. There will also be a women’s competition, though with only four players—who will play direct semifinal and final matches.
One of the unique features this time at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club is that the venue’s courts, which are traditionally clay (like all tournaments on the South American swing), have been adapted and converted to hardcourts in order to imitate the demands of the Australian tournament.
