"Roger Federer raised the sport to a higher level, just as Tiger Woods did with golf or Michael Jordan with basketball" - says Nicolas Almagro

Former pro Nicolas Almagro believes Federer raised tennis to another level comparing him to Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.

It's hardly a controversial stance to have as many people agree that Federer raised the sport to another level and took its popularity to an even higher level. He's the most popular tennis player in history and it's hard to imagine anybody overtaking him.

He also started the golden era of tennis which saw some of the best players in history play at the same time. Speaking to Eurosport Spain, Almagro talked about Federer noting:

"It is a significant loss for everything that has changed our sport since his arrival, he raised it to a higher level as Tiger Woods did with golf or Michael Jordan with basketball. Hopefully, the next generations will remain faithful to the legacy that he leaves, so we will be sure that everything that comes is much better."

He also remmebered playing against Federer explaining:

"Playing against Federer is a different experience from facing any other player. With Roger you have the feeling at all times that he is playing with you, that he is playing what he wants at all times."
