No one has defended the US Open Men’s Singles title since Roger Federer won his fifth in a row in 2008 🏆
Roger Federer is still the last player to successfully defend his trophy at the US Open as Daniil Medvedev lost last night.
Daniil Medvedev was this year's defending champion at the US Open but the Russian was unable to do it. He faced Nick Kyrgios who defeated him a couple of weeks ago in Montreal and he did once more here. It was a good match with Kyrgios winning in four sets.
The loss cemented Federer as the last player to successfully defend his trophy at the US Open but the Russian won't mind that much. What will bother him more is the fact that he'll lose his number one ranking on Monday.
Nadal has the biggest chance to do so but there are two other players that can do it as well.
