Roger Federer played a much better match in the 2nd round of Wimbledon defeating Richard Gasquet 7-6(1) 6-1 6-4.
The start of the match was a bit shaky by Federer who needed time to find his rhythm. Gasquet had several early break points but he failed to use either of them. As both played well and continued to play well we ended up in a tiebreak. In it, it was Federer who completely took over winning it 7-1.
Federer continued playing well in the 2nd set turning back the clock and looking like peak Federer. Gasquet could only watch as the maestro painted a masterpiece of a set. Only 27 minutes and the score was 6-1. Gasquet picked up the pace in the 3rd set holding Federer at bay for a while.
However, Roger once again found a way to break through Gasquet's defence. Federer had his first match point on the serve of Gasquet but failed to use it. It only prolonged the inevitable as Federer finished off the match in the next game with 6-4.
A great match by Federer who did not get broken in the straight-sets win. He blasted also 49 winners compared to only 26 mistakes which was more than enough for Gasquet.
