Following his quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon earlier this year,
Roger Federer subsequently announced he had undergone another knee surgery and would miss "many months" as he recovered, with the goal being to return in the 2022 season.
The Swiss superstar suffered the knee injury during the grass court season, leading him to withdraw from the US Open and effectively cut his season short. However, he has been training in preparation for next year's
Australian Open, and his father, Robert Federer, revealed that Roger was making progress in his recovery.
"Roger is fine, he is getting into shape," said Robert in an interview with SkySport. "He is doing fitness. He is spending a lot of time with his children, as well."
Federer is currently tied at 20 Grand Slams with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic for the most Grand Slam titles won by a male player in the Open Era, and it could be a race to see who claims their 21st Major if all three were to compete in Melbourne next year.
