Holger Rune has expressed concern after he was forced to retire in Rotterdam due to a wrist problem that keeps giving him pain as he fears the extent of the injury.
Holger Rune was playing some solid tennis lately but he's also been dealing with a wrist problem that ultimately forced him to retire in Rotterdam. Rune was on his way to losing the match anyways and due to experiencing pain he opted to simply cut the match short. Reflecting on the problem following the loss Rune remarked that he'll need to check it again because it should not really hurt as much:
"I'll have to look into it. I have to get it checked again, because of course it shouldn't continue to hurt when you're my age."
Rune also confirmed that it's been something that has been bothering him for a while but he managed to play through the minor pain. This time it was different because it hurt more and more.
"I have played through some pain, but today it hurt more and more as the match progressed, and in the end, it hurt too much. I tried all possible methods to make it work."
A huge stretch is coming up in North America so Rune would not want to have to pause for a long period of time.
