Denmark’s tennis star
Holger Rune has been ruled out of the
Croatian Open after falling sick.
The 20-year-old is currently playing in the Hopman Cup in
Nice, France where his performances have been not up to the mark.
As per some latest reports, the primary reason for that is
that Rune, despite taking part in the competition, is not well.
It is because of this reason the current world number six
will not take part in the upcoming competition in Umag.
The report further stated that this decision was also backed by his mother who remained extremely influential in his decision-making.
The development will be a blow for Rune as he has not been
performing that well in the recent past.
In the recently concluded Wimbledon 2023, the Gentofte-born
suffered a defeat against current world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinal
in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Before that, he was also knocked out in the quarterfinal of
the French Open after losing to Norway’s Casper Ruud with a score of 6-1, 6-2,
3-6, 6-3.
In the Australian Open, Rune exited the competition in the
fourth round after suffering a defeat against Russia’s Andrey Rublev in a
five-set thriller with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6.
