Norway’s tennis star Casper Rudd defeated Italy’s Lorenzo
Musetti to book his place in the final of the Nordea Open.
The 24-year-old secured a win in straight sets with a score
of 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday.
In the first set, Rudd was just too strong for his opponent.
He ended up winning 78 percent of points on the first serve.
In total, the former French and US Open finalist ended up winning
72 percent service points in the first set. In comparison, Musetti won just 59
percent of points while serving.
In the second set, the Italian tennis star managed to put up
a fight but eventually ended up on the losing side.
In that set, Ruud went on to win 72 percent of points on the first
serve, just slightly better compared to Musetti who won 68 percent of points.
The victory will be a big boost for the Ruud after having a
poor outing in the recently concluded Wimbledon 2023.
The Oslo-born was knocked out from the second round of the third
Grand Slam of the year by Britain’s Liam Broady in a five-set thriller with a
score of 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Ruud will now face the winner of the match between Russia’s Andrey
Rublev and Francisco Cerundolo in the final of the competition.
