The women's final at the
Rome Open was cut short due to an injury and
Elena Rybakina showed great support to
Anhelina Kalinina during her victory speech.
The final lasted only one set effectively as Kalinina retired down 0-1 in the second set due to an injury. She spoke with the physio admitting that she can't keep playing which was an unfortunate way to end a really good week for her. During the trophy ceremony, Rybakina said some encouraging words to Kalinina:
"I want to wish Kalininia a speedy recovery because she is a
really good friend of mine and I am really happy for all of her
results. She did a good job and hopefully can recover for
the French Open."
She also added:
“A big thanks to the crowd and everyone who stayed and watched till the end. It was not easy for us but not easy for you with all the rain today so thank you so much for the support."
