Alexander Bublik took care of the first major upset at the 2021 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam when he defeated Alexander Zverev.
Alexander and Alexander never faced each other before meeting in Rotterdam. However, Bublik had a really good record when facing top 10 opponents and so Zverev had a lot to fear before their meeting at the 2021 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.
The match began as many expected and Zverev got his first break in the very first game of the match to later get a quick 4-2 lead. However, it was the Kazakh who then dominated the set when Zverev managed to win only one more game on Bublik's way towards a 7-5 victory in 43 minutes.
In the second set, it looked like Zverev can get back on track when he got another break and led already 3-1 early in the set. But that was the time when Bublik showed his incredible strength again. He wen on to win 5 games in a row and convert his very first match point to win 7-5, 6-3 and reach the second round in Rotterdam.
There, he will face Tommy Paul who defeated Lorenzo Sonego in two sets. You can follow the tournament from Rotterdam live with TennisUpToDate by clicking here!
