Goran Ivanisevic joined Novak Djokovic's team at Wimbledon 2019, staying with the Serb in the first week and becoming a full-time member soon after that, alongside the other coach Marian Vajda.
Two weeks ago, Goran led Novak towards the ninth Australian Open title, celebrating the crown with his pupil and feeling proud about everything they have achieved while battling with rivals and an abdomen injury. Speaking about
Roger Federer, Ivanisevic said that he knows the Swiss very well, playing against him in the past and coaching a couple of players against him.
Ivanisevic isn't writing off Federer despite that extended injury, reminding how dangerous the Swiss is and calling him a tricky opponent every time he is on 100% physically. Skipping every tournament since the last year's Australian Open, Federer will compete again at the next week's ATP 250 Doha event, hoping to shape his game before the summer and his beloved Wimbledon.
"I played against Federer and led players against him; one thing that I have learned is never to write Roger off. He is always a dangerous rival, especially at Wimbledon and a little less at the US Open. If he plays, it means he is ready; and when he is ready, Roger is always a tricky rival," Goran Ivanisevic said.
