American tennis star
Sebastian Korda had a horrible outing
in the
Monte-Carlo Masters, not just on the court but also off it as well. The
23-year-old suffered a thrashing defeat to Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the round
of 32 of the competition in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-2 which ended
his competition in the singles category as well. Before that, he was also
knocked out from the doubles category as he along with his partner Bulgaria’s Grigor
Dimitrov were beaten by Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo and Croatia’s Mate Pavić in
the round of 32 clash in straight sets with a score of 64-6-4.
However, as per the latest media reports, Korda was robbed
of a Richard-Mille €300,000 watch by two individuals on Thursday, April 04. The
incident took place in the late hours on Thursday as he was reportedly going downstairs.
He was not injured in the altercation.
The current world number 27 provided the case of the watch to
the law enforcement authorities to conduct further investigation regarding the
incident. To his credit, Korda managed to overcome the incident and secured a
round of 64 win against Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets
with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
