Two undefeated countries Serbia and Russia will meet in the semifinal at the 2020 ATP Cup in fight for the final spot.
It was a dominant journey for both of the countries. Serbia led by Novak Djokovic started their 2020 ATP Cup campaign with 3-0
victory over South Africa. Russia was also 100% in the first tie when
they defeated Italy 3-0.
Serbia then defeated
France,
Chile and
Canada in the quarterfinals. Russia was also flawless when they defeated the United States, Norway and
Argentina.
Now these two tennis gigants clash. In the first matchup, Dusan Lajovic will be facing world number 17, Karen Khachanov. Both players were successful in Australia so far, when Khachanov does have a 4-0 record and Lajovic recorded only one loss, against Paire.
But the more important, highly-anticipated will be the second matchup. World number two meets the fifth man in the ATP Ranking. Novak Djokovic will be playing against
Daniil Medvedev as experience meets youth again. During the 2019 Season these players met 3 times and the Russian was more successful when he achieved 2 victories. He will be looking to add another also in Sydney to help his country reach the final.
Djokovic & Troicki should meet Khachanov & Medvedev in doubles but many could change as the tie develops. Both countries are ready and excited to fight for the spot in the final where one of the will meet the winner of the tie between Australia and Spain.
