Thiago Seyboth Wild produced the biggest upset at Roland Garros this year as he defeated
Daniil Medvedev in a 4-hour 5-set thriller sending the second set home.
Medvedev has never been the best on clay but the Russian recently won his first trophy on clay with a superb run at the Rome Masters. Many expected him to follow that up with a good showing in Paris and he wasn't bad by any means in this one but he wasn't particularly good either. The Brazilian produced a sensational effort hitting 60+ winners in the match to win it in five sets.
After the match, Wild admitted that the win is a dream come true considering the combination of factors that include beating a top 10 player, a grand slam champion a such an iconic court like Chatrier:
“I watched Daniil play for my entire junior career until today. I always dreamed of playing on this kind of court playing these players. In my best dreams I ended up beating them, so it’s a dream come true.”
