Rising American tennis star Ben Shelton began his first full year on the ATP Tour last summer, and it appears his father is willing to support his son as he embarks on his professional career.
Shelton left his NCAA tennis team to seek greater ambitions on the ATP circuit last summer, forgoing his stay at the University of Florida. Now, his father, Bryan Shelton, who happens to be a coach at the same school, has announced his retirement in order to help Ben pursue his dream.
Shelton took to social media to make the announcement regarding his father's retirement, thanking him for all his years of service at the school.
"My dad retired from collegiate coaching today," wrote Shelton. "Congrats on everything you've accomplished in your 24 years out there."
However, the 20-year old was excited to begin the journey with his father.
"That being aid, the dream is back together baby!!" he added. "Can't wait to have you on tour with me, and see what we can accomplish together."
