The 35-year-old Gilles Simon put in a superb performance to defeat top seed Daniil Medvedev in the Open 13's quarter-final
Gilles Simon defeated Medvedev 6-4, 6-0 in just 67 minutes to reach the semi-finals of the Open 13 tournament.
Simon won 91 percent of his first-serve points and broke serve five times from six opportunities. And the world no 58 only dropped serve once against the Russian star as he reached the semifinal of the Open 13 Provence for a fifth time.
The Frenchman is a specialist in Marseille as he has won more matches at the Open 13 Provence than at any other tournament. And he showed that against Medvedev in the quarter-final. He will be relishing the chance to win his third Open 13 title having been triumphant in 2007 and 2015.
Simon will play either Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime or Belarusian Egor Gerasimov in the semifinals.
