Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman had to fight hard to reach the Cologne semifinal and they successfully did.

Jannik Sinner continued his stellar run at the bett1HULKS Championship with a victory against Simon. The match lasted two and a half hours and it saw Sinner win 6-3 0-6 6-4. The start of the match was very exciting as we saw several early breaks. It was the Italian who came out on top after that with a 4-1 lead. He would continue to play well and hold the lead for the majority of the set which he won 6-3. The 2nd set was a complete mess from Sinner who could not win anything. He fought hard and fought valiantly but Simon proved better not allowing him a single game.

Sinner looked rattled after that embarrassment and he went down 2-0 early in the final set as well. Somehow he composed himself and pulled the break back. Later in the set, he used Simon's tiredness to take another break which proved enough. He ended the match with a 6-4 final set victory. A stunning match that saw the Italian advance to the semifinal.

The 2nd match was even more impressive and crazy than the first one. The match between Schwartzman and Davidovich Fokina lasted well over two and a half hours and saw Diego win 2-6 7-6(3) 6-1. The start of the match was bad for Schwartzman as he got completely outplayed by the Spaniard. Similar things happened in the 2nd set as well as Fokina dominated long rallies hitting incredible shots. He was up 5-2 and serving for the match. Diego saved a match point in that game before winning it to stay in the match. It was just the start of the madness that followed. Fokina served once more for the match at 5-4 but once again he got blown away by Diego who tied it at 5-5.

Then Fokina broke Diego once more to give himself a 3rd chance at winning the match but once again he failed to win it despite serving. All of those missed chances impacted him heavily in the tiebreak which he lost 7-3. The final set was when he completely crumbled and saw Schwartzman dominate in the set which he won 6-1. A fascinating and crazy match but the deserved victory for Diego who once more demonstrated the incredible fighting spirit he possesses.
