Jannik Sinner has struggled in the past few months especially on grass where he found himself like a deer in the highlights considering fairly little experience on the surface. However, a return to the hardcourts saw him finally find some form in Washington after an early exit in Atlanta.
The Italian believes playing doubles in Washington gave him more confidence as he noted after his win over Brooksby:
"Doubles helps me for sure. You know, I've been out of competition quite long. At Wimbledon and Atlanta I've had only two matches."
Sinner won his maiden doubles title in Atlanta with Reilly Opelka after which he paired up with Sebastian Korda and reached the semifinal in Washington losing the 2nd seeds Skupski and Venus.
That obviously helped Sinner get back into playing competitive tennis giving him confidence:
“Also doubles help me trying to get the confidence back. Trying to win matches also. Obviously, it’s a lot of fun playing with Sebastian [Korda] as well. He’s a very young player and yeah, trying to win.”
