Srdjan Djokovic, the father of Novak Djokovic slammed Wimbledon in a recent interview saying that he will never forget what they did.
Novak Djokovic made history at the 2021 Wimbledon by winning his 20th Grand Slam trophy overall at the event tying Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most wins ever. Notable absentees from the event that are usually there were the father and mother of Novak Djokovic.
Speaking on the matter, Srdjan Djokovic said in a recent interview:
"When I’m in his box, I play every ball with him. Unfortunately, my wife and I wanted to come to Wimbledon, but they didn’t let us. These horrible people did not allow us parents to go and watch him, because we had to go in quarantine for a week, even though the stadium was full with 15,000, 16,000 people."
Djokovic harshly criticized the protocols in place for Wimbledon that did raise more than a few eyebrows. Stands were pretty much full every day while players wore masks before and after matches which was questioned by many in and out of the medical profession. Djokovic further said:
“They didn’t let us watch our son, I’ll never forget that. Now we wanted to go to Tokyo, and we could not go either.”
Djokovic would not comment on whether his wife and he would be in New York for the US Open but it is widely expected they will.
