Stefanos Tsitsipas is officially the 3rd best tennis player in the world after jumping over Rafael Nadal on the rankings while Novak Djokovic still leads no. 1.
Stefanos Tsitsipas did not play a single point this week yet the Greek was able to move up on the rankings jumping over Rafael Nadal for number 3 as the Spaniard is out of the top 3 for the first time since 2017. Compared to Tsitsipas, Nadal did play this week in Washington yet the Spaniard exited early after losing to Lloyd Harris.
That cost him the 3rd spot on the rankings which is the first time since 2017 he is not in the top 3. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner won that Citi Open event in Washington and the Italian jumped a staggering 9 spots to number 15 which is a new career-high. Kei Nishikori earned some valuable points as well moving up 12 spots to number 55.
The biggest winner of the week is American Mackenzie McDonald who reached his maiden final in Washington. Despite losing in the final McDonald still made significant gains jumping 43 spots on the rankings to number 64. In total six players achieved new career-high rankings in the top 100. They are Sinner at 15, Sonego at 25, Harris at 49, Nakashima at 87 and Brooksby at 99. Check out the full rankings below.
