The Italian derby at the
Monte-Carlo Masters went to
Jannik Sinner who was better than
Lorenzo Musetti in two simple sets 6-2 6-2.
This was always going to be a tough matchup for Musetti because Sinner has just so much power in his game and plays so aggressively. Musetit is a finesse player who will break you down with some cross-court shots but Sinner simply won't allow it. He will attack you as soon as he gets the chance and Musetti had trouble dealing with that.
The first set was a 6-2 one where the higher-ranked Italian had 14 winners and only two errors. Musetti was fair from the baseline as well but he simply could not match Sinner who was dominating in the rallies. Lorenzo also didn't have the best day serving which didn't help him at all. He needed a much better overall performance.
The second set was another precise one from Sinner who added 5 winners in this one. The score was 6-2 one more as he moves to the semi-final to face Holger Rune which is a fascinating matchup.
