Jannik Sinner stepped onto the
Sofia Open courts today and defeated Marton Fucsovics to reach the next round.
It was not a very good run for Sinner in Paris but he returned to the courts in Bulgaria at the Sofia Open. The opening set was opened strongly by Sinner which has become somewhat of a hallmark in his game. He rarely ever enters game sloppy and this time was no different. The deep focus allowed him to break Fucsovics immediately taking a 2-0 lead. The Hungarian came back immediately to make it 2-2 but Sinner then went on a 4-game run to win the opening set 6-2. It was a well-played set for Sinner in every aspect of the game despite not hitting any ace.
The 2nd set opened in a similar fashion with Jannik taking an earl break and lead 3-0. Marton played better than in the opening of the set which allowed him to come back later and break Sinner. He had to saved several break points in the next game as well in order to confirm the break but he managed to do it. Marton then carved out a break point in the next game but Jannik remained calm and saved it. Sinner then proceeded to close out the match in the next game but using his first match point in the match. Overall it took him just over and hour and a half to beat Fucsoviccs 6-2 6-4.
