Roger Federer has not played since January but he is on track to return at the Australian Open in 2021 and he is far from done with tennis.
Speaking recently in an interview he said that despite not playing since January he is on track to return at the Australian Open 2021. He also said he will not retire soon as he has still a lot to give. His full quote was:
"I will not retire soon. I still have a lot to give."
He also spoke about his career and how he handled being considered the face of tennis for so many years:
“Becoming World No. 1 and winning Wimbledon, sort of being the leader of the game in some ways or just a spokesperson for all male tennis players, I don't take it for granted. I really appreciate it because for me heroes are really important. You know I had Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker and Michael Jordan. I have a chance to give back, a chance to inspire”.
When asked about how he became so successful he admitted that he did not aim for it initially. His Swiss upbringing taught him not too dream too big and be realistic. Despite that he underlined the key thing which is self-belife. He said:
"If you're passionate about what you're doing, keep going, keep believing, reach for the stars. Surround yourself with the right people and if you really go for it."
He ended by concluding that one thing that upsets him the most is when someone wastes his talent.
