Ronnie O'Sullivan is a rockstar in the world of snooker and he urged a fellow British superstar Emma Raducanu to hire a sports psychologist.
One of the best snooker players of all time, Ronnie O'Sullivan knows what it means to become a superstar at a young age. The English player has been closely followed ever since he started playing due to his tremendous talent. Since turning pro at 16 O'Sullivan has been in the public eye and he knows how taxing that can be especially on a young individual.
Speaking to Eurosport he commented on Raducanu observing that she seems under a lot of pressure. He said:
I am watching Emma Raducanu and I am really worried as there seems to be a lot of pressure on her. The best phone call she can make is to Steve Peters."
O'Sullivan has had his fair share of troubles with mental health with bouts of depression and battling addiction. Steve Peters is a sports psychologist who helped O'Sullivan get over his troubles and the English player credited him with solving a lot of issues he experienced in his personal life. Commenting further on Raducanu, O'Sullivan
“I think at the moment it’s not her tennis ability, it’s just handling the stuff around it. Emma Raducanu does not need to be told how to hit a tennis ball, sometimes you just need someone to tune in to you and handle the pressure."
Whether Raducanu heeds his advice remains to be seen but it's not hard to think that the young Brit is feeling some pressure after her surprising win at the US Open.
