Noted tennis coach Darren Cahill believes
Novak Djokovic will be at the
Australian Open despite his participation not yet confirmed.
There has been a lot of speculation about what the final rules will be at the Australian Open in terms of vaccination and quarantine. Nothing is official yet as different sources are reporting different things. The final report has the ATP officially declaring that any rules at the event are the responsibility of the Australian Government and whatever they decided will be imposed.
Novak Djokovic has been one of the players that has left his participation up in the air not wanting to publicly comment on the matter. Djokovic did express his hope that things will work out while also refusing to disclose whether he got vaccinated or not. Noted tennis coach Darren Cahill has no doubt whether Djokovic will be in Melbourne.
He said:
"Novak (Djokovic) and what he tried to do in 2021 by nearly winning
the Grand Slam, which hasn’t been done since 1969. Tennis
is much bigger than one individual, I think Novak will be here but if
he doesn’t come down, the event will still be a major success.”
The event will go ahead with or without Djokovic and Cahill is right to believe that it will be a great one but the Australian Open without Djokovic won't be the same. He is ultimately the most successful player in the history of the event and not seeing him there would make a lot of fans sad.
