Srdjan Djokovic gives explanation why his son Novak is not beloved in tennis: "Probably because it's a bourgeoisie sport, because it was created by the Englishmen for their high class"

It's fairly known that Novak Djokovic is not the most popular player on Tour despite being one of the best to ever play.

There are a lot of reasons why that is the case but his father Srdjan Djokovic claims to know the only reason why that is. In a recent episode of a Serbian podcast called Biznis priče (Business Stories), Srdjan explained why his son is not as popular as some other players:

"Novak isn't giving any reasons not to be loved. Why is that happening? I don't know. Probably because it's a bourgeoisie sport, because it was created by the Englishmen for their high class. Then some Serb shows up from a small, poor country, and he is the best in their sport for the past 15 years - now it's our sport too."

Srdjan Djokovic is known to tennis fans by outspoken views that have been criticised heavily several times. He doesn't shy from speaking his mind and he continued:

"They have to accept that the centre of the tennis world has shifted to Eastern Europe, to the East of the world. They will have to accept that, whether they like it or not."
