Stan Wawrinka wins tricky Rotterdam opener against Bublik

Stan Wawrinka defeated Alexander Bublik for the second time this year with this Rotterdam win coming in straight sets as well as the one in the United Cup.

The final score was 7-6(5) 6-4 and it was a really composed performance from Wawrinka who showed last year that he can be really good indoors. It's probably his best surface against some of the best as his serve is still pretty good overall. The first set was a typical Rotterdam set with basically no chances for either player.

Wawrinka had a set point late in the set but was unable to convert it. The tiebreak opened better for Bublik who had a mini break in hand but he wasn't able to hold it. Some luck, some impressive skill and Wawrinka saw another set point. This time around he would get it done and take the opening set 7-5.

The second one saw Bublik display more frustration than in the first one. It wasn't a surprise and it was expected to a degree. In those circumstances, Wawrinka patiently waited for his chance and took it. A 4-2 lead and then good focus to complete the victory in straight sets. Very good start from Wawrinka who will be tricky to beat if he keeps playing this well.
