The last time Tsitsipas and Ymer played the Greek crushed the Swede easily and he did so again 6-2 6-2 6-2 to move at Roland Garros.
Ymer is a fairly solid player that plays his best tennis on clay yet his level is far from good enough to challenge any top 20 player. He certainly can't challenge some of the best in the world and it's been pretty evident any time he played Tsitsiasp. The last time they played was on hard courts and Tsitsipas crushed him. He did so today as well.
Tsitsipas dominated play from the start. On his own serve, he finished off points rather quickly thanks to his powerful serve that Ymer had problems taming. On return, he was able to dictate the pace of play rather well with his forehand as Ymer's serve is rather weak for an ATP player. He had pretty decent success attacking it and Ymer was forced to risk more.
That risk turned into 10 errors for the Swede and compared to Tsitsipas' 4 it was too much. The 2nd set was fairly similar with the same thing happening again but this time Tsitsipas was able to win all 13 first-serve points. He only dropped 3 in the first set so overall he improved again. The score was 6-2 once more. The final set was another strong one from Tsitsipas.
He did make more mistakes and he actually allowed his opponent a break point but he saved it. Overall the score was 6-1 as the Greek eased into the next round. He badly needed a performance and match like this after playing back-to-back 5 setters in the earlier round.
