Stefanos Tsitsips scored another win over
Hubert Hurkacz as he battled past the Pole 7-6(8) 6-3 to move on to the semi-finals.
The interesting matchup between Tsitsipas and Hurkacz went largely as expected as the first set went into the tiebreak. That was not a surprise but the somewhat poor play by Hurkacz was. He was forced to save multiple break points in the set while making his way to the tiebreak and it almost proved crucial.
He had several set points in the tiebreak as he was up 6-3. In total, Tsitsipas saved five set points to take the opening set 10-8 after converting his first set point. It was hugely important for Tsitsipas who nearly wasted a very good set of tennis with some poor choices in the tiebreak.
The result of the tiebreak had a clear impact on the rest of the match as Tsitsipas looked very confident moving on. Hurkacz upped his level as well but it didn't create too much difference as his woes returned towards the end of the set with Tsitsipas breaking him and serving it out 6-3.
