Tsitsipas AO 2022
Stefanos Tsitsipas played his best tennis since last year's French Open to easily defeat Jannik Sinner in less than two hours 6-3 6-4 6-2.
The Greek player reached the Australian Open quarterfinal after facing quite a bit of adversity in several of his matches. Tsitsipas entered this match after a brutal comeback win over Fritz that left many wondering whether he was tired. He quickly dispelled all of those rumours by producing a super clean effort in the first set which he won with 6-3.
Sinner did not play terrible yet the Italian simply was outplayed by Tsitsipas who played without any mistakes. The 2nd set was even played a bit better by Sinner but once again Tsitsipas was just too good. The Italian faced only one break point and the Greek converted it. Sinner could once again not create a break chance of his own.
Pretty much the same thing happened in the 3rd set where Tsitsipas seemingly played even better. Once again he did not face a single break point and once again he outplayed his opponent. This wasn't a match where Sinner made too many mistakes as he posted an 18-22 winner to error ratio which was okay. However, Tsitsipas was more aggressive hitting 30 to 28 and it mattered.
If he can produce such an effort again in the semifinal he will have a chance whether it's against Medvedev or Auger-Aliassime. This was a superb display of tennis.
