Stefanos Tsitsipas was scheduled to play for Greece this weekend in their Davis Cup fixture against Lithuania but an injury happened.
The Greek superstar was supposed to return to tennis this weekend leading Greece in the Davis Cup against Lithuania but he won't play. The Davis Cup team announced that Tsitsipas will be unable to partake due to a left foot injury that has plagued him at the US Open as well. Tsitsipas did arrive in Heraklion, Crete today to be with the team as they take on Lithuania in the World Group II fixture.
The Greek player has struggled with a foot injury at the US Open as well where he took several medical timeouts to deal with the issue. The foot was heavily bandaged each time which suggested that something was wrong. The Greek was happy to represent Greece in the Davis Cup but in the end, it seems like he decided against it.
It's unclear whether Tsitsipas will take part in the Laver Cup next week where he was set to participate as well. He is currently listed as a player participating and no info has been provided whether he will play or not.
