Stubbs left angered by Sakkari’s name being mispronounced

Former tennis professional Stubbs was left angered by people pronouncing the name of Maria Sakkari wrongly, calling on them to go to the WTA website and check it.

Maria Sakkari is a Greek tennis player and Greek is not the most widely spoken language in the world. It used to be at a time but now it's mostly English with a lot of people not sure how to pronounce certain names. The tennis community has members from all around the world with various types of names and Sakkari's name tends to confuse some of them.

It's customary for those familiar with it to pronounce it properly but sometimes it just goes wrong. Stubbs was annoyed by it and voiced her anger on social media:

"Can the world feed call @mariasakkari by her correct name! It’s NOT SACK, go to the @WTA website and listen! Pass it on!"

The WTA does have players say their own name on their profiles to make this easier.
