Taylor Fritz hasn't had too much success on clay this year, especially in the past few weeks but he made a good start in Geneva taking down Giron in three sets.
It wasn't a perfect win for the American because he lost the opening set but he was able to come back and win the match in three sets. The first one was an interesting one as Fritz applied quite a lot of pressure on Giron but he couldn't convert when he needed to. Giron used two of his three break points while Fritz used only one of five, which proved crucial.
The second set was much better but again it wasn't perfect. The score was 6-2 for Fritz but he still faced quite a few break points losing his serve once while breaking Giron three times. The trend from the first set stood. Fritz played the crucial rallies better and he was able to take the set. The final one wasn't as dramatic.
Player's didn't face too many issues on their serves but ultimately Fritz proved better winning it 6-3. A very important win for the American after recent struggles. Will serve him well ahead of Roland Garros.
