Taylor Fritz may not have fared much better at the 2025
Rome Open but the American couldn't help but poke fun at his fellow ATP star
Casper Ruud after he was thrashed by
Jannik Sinner.
Sinner will face Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Rome Open tomorrow. But in the Quarter-Finals, he set the standard as he won through 6-0, 6-1 against Ruud. Then Sinner struggled past Tommy Paul but he was still rampant in the end all the same.
"You almost had him," hilariously wrote Fritz in response to a post from Ruud earlier today which wrote. "Arrivederci, Roma👋 Not the result I wanted, but the love from the crowd made it worth it. Congrats to @janniksin and his team."
Sinner responded with a prayer emoji in response, a lot less of a dig hilariously than Fritz' effort. Unlike Ruud, Fritz will play at the Geneva Open over the next few days.
The American is lined up to take his spot as the top player in the ATP 250. He is joined by Novak Djokovic in the field. Ruud was entered until a few days ago when both Geneva and Hamburg were subject to a mass cull of most of the top names.
But Fritz hasn't had much in the way of game time in recent months due to an abdominal injury so entered this tournament when he was out previously during the early clay court season.
