Taylor Fritz is continuing to win matches with the latest victory coming at the
Stockholm Open against Gerasimov.
After another solid outing in Paris, Taylor Fritz continued winning matches in Stockholm where he faced Belarussian Egor Gerasimov. The American did not play a special match but he was good enough to overcome the big-serving Gerasimov in straight sets. In the very first game, Fritz almost broke Gerasimov but the Belarussian was able to hold on.
Not long after that Fritz did get the breakthrough he was looking for taking a 4-2 lead. After that, it was mostly focusing on his own serve for Fritz. He served very well dropping only one 1st service point all set long and that proved enough to win it with 6-4.
Gerasimov sustained most of the damage in the first set on his 2nd serve which made his serving paramount in the 2nd set. He was able to raise it to another level and that left very few opportunities for Fritz to attack him the way he did in the first set. That is why he was visibly upset after losing the early break in the 2nd set which he earned.
After two games we were tied at 1-1 and after that, neither player had any chances for a while. Eventually, at 4-4, Fritz was able to carve out a break point which ended up being very valuable after he converted it. A strong service game followed with the American closing it out 6-4 6-4.
