Taylor Fritz has sailed into the Miami Open quarter-final by beating Holger Rune in straight sets 6-3 6-4 continunig his very good season so far.
Another tricky match and another good win for Fritz who was able to play a pretty composed match to down Holger Rune in Miami. The match was entertaining because both players like to play aggressively and have no problem doing so. It was pretty evident that the player who was a bit sharper would win and it ended up being Fritz.
Fritz took an early break in the match to take a 2-0 lead but Rune pulled it back immediately. For a while, it seemed like Rune was in the match but eventually, Fritz once again battled his way to a chance and took it. The second set was pretty similar in the way it went as Fritz took an early break of 2-0 and then simply kept his serve until the match of the match.
A very good effort from the American who was spectacular in crucial rallies. He saved 5 of the six break points he faced and all of them happened in the first two games of the match. Once he found a good rhythm Rune didn't see a single break point until the end of the match. Fritz also added 8 aces and 22 winners overall.
