Alexander Zverev defeated Milos Raonic 6-4, 3-6 and 10-4 to earn the third Laver Cup in a row for the Team Europe, when defeating Team World 13-11.
The match of the two players whose main weapon is the serve was to decide the result of the Laver Cup 2019.
Milos Raonic wanted to build on the good form of his teammates, who managed to win 2 out of three matches on the third day.
Alexander Zverev, on the other hand, wanted to confirm the role of the favourite who Team Europe was, winning the titles in Prague 2017 and Chicago 2018.
The match started better for the German, who was the only one in the first set to get to and use the break ball. After taking his opponent's serve in game 7, he won the first set 6-4.
Raonic, however, did not give up and with the support of mainly Nick Kyrgios and John Isner, he had the confidence to take the Zverev's service in the sixth game. Although Zverev had 4 break balls, when Raonic was serving for the set, he did not use them and allowed Raonic to level the score. The winner of the Laver Cup was to be decided by a super tie-break.
In a super tie-break, Zverev started better when Raonic lost up to 3 of his first 4 serves and the player playing for Europe was already in the lead of 6-2. Zverev did not lose the lead and earned a third Laver Cup title for the Team Europe after victory 13-11 over the Team World.
