Tsonga followed the excellent form of the Challenger in Cassis at the Moselle Open in Metz. There the Frenchman won without losing a set. At the Moselle Open he defeated Andujar, Herbert, Basilashvili, Pouille and Aljaz Bedene in the final.
But the match started better for Bedene, who won the first set 7-4 in a tie-break. In the second set Slovenian led 4-3 and had a break ball, but Tsonga fought and managed to win the second set also 7-4 in a tie-break.
After two hours on the court, players awaited for the third set to decide the winner of the tournament. Tsonga greatly maintained concentration at this moment, winning the first 14 points of the third set, ensuring important lead. He didn't lose the lead he earned early in the set and won the third set 6-3.
Tsonga, as the first man in the history of the Metz tournament, won 4 titles and so pleased home crowd. Overall, Tsonga won up to 10 of his 18 titles in France. After the match finalist Bedene said:
"I only lost serve twice this week, so that is probably the best serving week of my career. I had chances today. I had a set, 4-3 and a break point. He served well and I picked the wrong side, but it was close and it could have gone either way. I am disappointed. I wanted to win, but I am also happy with the week.”
