Nick Kyrgios is one of the players Netflix followed during this year in what will be the first-ever behind-the-scenes documentary.
The show will be quite similar to Netflix's Drive to Survive which showed the world of Formula One from the inside allowing fans a close peek at how things go there. This one will do the same thing only for tennis and Kyrgios was the player they followed around at
Wimbledon. Brilliant pick as the Australian reached the final.
The Aussie was asked why he signed up for it as some players openly avoided it and he said:
“I think I was quite interested because I think tennis culture is changing. I think there is a lot of, I mean, there is no hiding it. Tennis is a very white privileged sport. I loved the fact that I was able to show my path and the way I go about it and how I connect with people. I think it’s a very different side to how people would perceive most tennis players."
For Kyrgios is just about representing as he explained:
"I think it’s a special thing for other coloured athletes that do want to play tennis to see myself, you know, you have (Frances) Tiafoe out there right now, (Naomi) Osaka, us doing it the way we are doing it."
