America’s tennis star
Taylor Fritz has provided a short
answer after suffering a heartbreaking defeat in the Swiss Indoors tournament.
The 26-year-old suffered a defeat in the round of 16 to
Russia’s Alexander Shevchenko in the round of 16 of the competition with a
score of 6-7, 7-6, 7-6.
Fritz posted a short and crisp response on a social media platform
X — previously known as Twitter — where he stated ‘Tennis is rough’.
The defeat will definitely going to be a big blow for Fritz
who was recently knocked out of the Japan Open in the round of 16 after losing
to Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki with a score of 0-6, 6-4, 7-2.
Those results were part of a series of disappointing outcomes
faced by the San Diego-born who had a tough year while playing at the highest
level.
Fritz, despite playing in the main round of all Grand Slams in
2023, only managed to qualify for the quarterfinal or beyond in one competition.
His most impressive outing in a major tournament third year came
in the US Open where he was eventually knocked out after losing the quarterfinal
to the current world number one and Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic
in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.
