Andy Murray played a very good match in Stockholm to defeat Jannik Sinner and after the match, he was sure to let everyone know about it.
It's been a very tough year for Andy Murray overall especially with many people calling on Murray to go into early retirement. The Brit was adamant he had still a lot to give to tennis never doubting himself and his capabilities. In the past few months, he took down some impressive names including Jannik Sinner here in Stockholm.
After the match, he said:
“I’m playing at the top level and I’m winning matches against the best players in the world. The ones that I’m losing, I’m pushing the best players in the world. That argument is finished. I can compete at the top level.”
Murray was not shy to let everyone know that he can compete with the best and that's only natural after many questioned whether he will ever be able to play high-level tennis again. Speaking on the event in particular Murray said:
“Now I’m in the quarters, I want to have a deep run here. I want to keep it going now. If I want to move back up the rankings and have good runs in tournaments again, I need to win these matches."
Once again he reiterated his belief that he has a lot to give:
“I think I still have a lot to offer. I am still able to compete and win matches against guys that are in the top 10 in the world and I’ve been competitive against guys that are three/four in the world. So, if my body stays good and I’m able to build some momentum at more tournaments and matches, I believe I can get right up there again.”
