Croatian doubles star Nikola Mektic has backed the creation of the Professional Tennis Players Association, which was co-founded by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil.
The PTPA was founded in 2019 by Djokovic and Pospisil, and it's aim is to be an alternative to the ATP in ensuring that there is transparency and fairness when dealing with the needs of professional tennis players.
Although the ATP does not work with the PTPA, Mektic believes that would fare better and have more rights if represented by the PTPA. Furthermore, the Croatian stated he and other players stand with Djokovic, and labeled the ATP as a "puppet organization".
"We are absolutely with Novak. I know much less than Novak..."said Mektic during an appearance on Sport Klub's Wish & Go podcast. "ATP is simply an organization that is a puppet of large corporations."
Meanwhile, Djokovic met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic last Thursday. The World No.1 thanked everyone who supported him during the Australia visa drama and said he plans to address the situation in 7-10 days.
