Australian tennis star
Nick Kyrgios is anxious to resume his tennis comeback, as he builds up his Wimbledon preparation following knee surgery.
The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up will be competing at this week's
Stuttgart Open, where he is seeded eighth. The 28-year old has been out of action since October last year, and has been at home in Australia recuperating ever since.
"The grass season is the best part of the year,” said Kyrgios. “This year has been tough for me recovering from knee surgery. It was not major but I had quite a serious surgery. It’s taken me five months to get back to even playing and moving again.”
Kyrgios will face the 54th-ranked Wu Yibing in the opening round in Stuttgart, and is excited to finally be back on the court.
“I’m coming back at a tournament where I’ve done well in the past,” he said. “I’ve played some amazing matches here and the crowd is always really supportive. I’m looking forward to playing the sport that I’ve been working so hard to get back to.”
