Novak Djokovic has been in great form during the 2025 Miami Open, and the former World No.1 is one win away from claiming his 100th career ATP singles title.
The Serbian defeated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals in Miami, securing an easy 6-2 6-3 victory to advance to the final. Djokovic is yet to win a title this year, after suffering some early round losses following his semifinal appearance at the 2025 Australian Open.
Although Djokovic is currently trending in the right direction, there was a period of time over the last two months where fans wondered if he would ever win another title. Paul Annacone, former coach of tennis great Roger Federer, believes the Serbian is treated differently by the media than his rivals.
"He’s won so much for so many years, like we talked about last night; the great ones tend to make more news when they lose," said Annacone. "Because he hasn’t had a huge sample size this year, that’s a lot of news because he hasn’t won very much, for him.
"It’s tough for him to find his match rhythm, but I think he’s playing a little bit better each match. I think he did a nice job today (after his straight sets quarterfinal win over American Sebastian Korda), that could’ve gone three sets very easily. Novak Djokovic in the semis of a [Masters] 1000, hard to bet against the guy, he’s been there a few times."
