Rafael Nadal is closely following the story around Shuai Peng and during his interview with L'Equipe, Nadal briefly touched upon the subject.
The hottest story in tennis in the past few days has been the whereabouts and safety of Shuai Peng. All the world is closely watching what is going on in China and with good reason. The Chinese player mysteriously vanished for a few days after going public with sexual assault allegations against a high-ranking Government official.
The WTA and ATP both demanded action from China in proving that Peng was safe and while the Chinese media has released a few tidbits of information the WTA is not content. Many tennis players were asked about the situation and in his most recent interview Nadal said:
"I follow the news and read the articles about Peng Shuai. Even though I don't have all the information, the most important thing here is to know if she is okay. All of us in the tennis family hope to see her back with us soon."
Nadal did not offer anything more than that because as he put it he did not have the information. Novak Djokovic was a bit harsher in his critics backing the WTA of pulling out all events from China until this is resolved. What happens in the end, remains to be seen.
